The closest major airport to Pelling is Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal, located approximately 160 kilometres away. Bagdogra has regular flight connections with major Indian cities including Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai.
From Bagdogra Airport, travellers can hire a private taxi or opt for shared taxis to reach Pelling. Many visitors prefer to travel via Gangtok, which lies about 125 kilometres from Bagdogra and serves as a convenient transit point. From Gangtok, Pelling is around 131 kilometres away and can be reached by road.
Sikkim now also has its own airport, Pakyong Airport, situated about 35 kilometres south of Gangtok. Located at an altitude of around 4,590 feet, it is among the highest airports in India.
