Pangong Lake remains untouched mainly by heavy commercialisation, so you won’t find many concrete hotels or luxury resorts here. 1. Mobile Connectivity
Signal coverage is minimal. Some areas near small villages may have weak reception, but most of the journey and the lake area will be without service.
2. Medical Facilities
Only basic medical help is available nearby. Carry a personal first aid kit and prescribed medicines. The nearest proper healthcare is in Leh, 5–6 hours away.
3. ATMs
There are no ATMs at or near Pangong. Withdraw sufficient cash in Leh before your trip.
4. Fuel Stations
No petrol pumps exist near the lake. Fill your tank in Leh and carry extra fuel if needed.
5. Food Options
Camps, guesthouses, and homestays offer meals, which can often be customised for dietary needs. Small stalls serve tea, coffee, momos, thukpa, and rice-lentil dishes. For a restaurant experience, P3 serves delicious Tibetan food with great lake views. If you’re lucky, you might even find Chhang, a traditional Ladakhi drink, during local festivals.
6. Ideal Duration
It takes about 6–7 hours from Leh to Pangong by road. A day trip is tiring and doesn’t allow enough time to relax. Staying overnight lets you enjoy the lake at sunrise and sunset without the rush of a same-day return.
