Juda Ka Talab is a picturesque high-altitude lake situated on the Kedarkantha trekking route in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. Sitting at an elevation of nearly 2,700 meters, the lake is admired for its serene charm and wide-ranging Himalayan views. It also serves as an ideal camping spot for trekkers heading toward the Kedarkantha summit, which stands tall at 3,800 meters.


Trekking Route to Juda Ka Talab

Juda Ka Talab lies roughly 4 km above Sankri, the last village accessible by motorable road. Beyond Sankri, the journey continues only on foot. The trail leading to Juda Ka Talab passes through dense forests draped with pine trees, offering a scenic and refreshing trek. On average, it takes around 4 hours to hike from Sankri to the lake.


Best Time to Visit Juda Ka Talab

The lake can be visited throughout the year except during the monsoon months, when the trail becomes slippery and challenging. Snow remains on the route until mid-April, making winter and early spring a snowy delight for trekkers. In summer, the landscape transforms into vibrant greenery, offering a completely different yet equally beautiful experience.

Juda Ka Talab is situated within the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary, along the trail to the Kedarkantha Peak. It is a 4 km trek from Sankri village.


How to Reach Juda Ka Talab

As mentioned above, the trek begins from Sankri village, which serves as the starting point for reaching Juda Ka Talab. From Sankri, travellers must continue on foot to reach the lake.
