  • TSA Helicopter Service: For travellers seeking a faster and more adventurous option, helicopter services from Bagdogra to Gangtok are available, reducing travel time to about 20 minutes. However, flights depend on weather conditions and seat availability, and cancellations may occur.

  • Pakyong Airport (Sikkim): Sikkim’s own airport, Pakyong Airport, is located about 35 km south of Gangtok. Situated at an altitude of 4,590 feet, it is one of the highest airports in India. Although limited flights currently operate, once fully functional, it will significantly reduce travel time to Gangtok.

Reaching Gangtok by Train

The nearest railway station to Gangtok is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) in Siliguri, West Bengal, approximately 148 km away. NJP is well-connected to major Indian cities such as Kolkata, Delhi, and Guwahati.

From New Jalpaiguri:
